Get help tracing your ancestry and bringing your back story to life. Make a Zoom appointment for a one-to-one consultation with an expert genealogist.

What is a Family Tree Surgery Consultation

Sometimes you just want to talk to an expert when you run into a barrier that is preventing you from exploring your Black British, Caribbean, and North American ancestry.

If you're just beginning, you may just want to know where you’re from and where to look for information. Or, if you have already started on your journey, you may simply want a steer in the right direction.

Online family tree consultations enable genealogist Paul Crook's to offer online consultations to the family historian. This allows the storyteller in the family signposting to genealogical sources of information and access to help overcome any barriers to researching ancestry.

Depending on where you are at in your journey, we’ll discuss

  • getting started tracing your Black British, Caribbean, ancestry
  • succeeding from the comfort of their own home, office, laptop, or mobile
  • overcoming barriers to finding forebears online
  • avoiding some common missteps when searching online
  • finding your ancestors born in the 1800s
  • accessing guidance on how to approach problems with the online genealogy (family tree) services that won't do what you think it should do?
  • any documents you wish to share.

Anyone can book a family tree surgery consultation with Paul Crooks

If this is your first family tree surgery consultation appointment, I recommend booking a

  • 30-minute appointment costs £50 to access the best advice on a complex genealogy issue. It’s also recommended if you have more than one minor question.
  • 60-minute appointment costs £100. It's ideal if you have more than one complex genealogy issue and a few minor questions. It's also recommended if you want to share and discuss documents you've obtained and get some guidance on overcoming “brick walls”.
